Meet the Tax Team
As Partner and Director of Tax Services at JH Law Group, Pauline brings more than 20 years of combined experience as an estate planning attorney and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). In addition to her role with the firm, she has served as Of Counsel to the Hargrove Firm since September 2022 and has operated her own tax practice, Tokunaga Law Firm, P.C., since 2005. Based in Pleasanton, California, Pauline focuses her practice on tax compliance, estate planning, and business formation.
Pauline earned her Juris Doctor with honors from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2004. Her professional background includes serving as a Partner at Cichella & Tokunaga, LLP; General Counsel for Health Optimization Medicine and Practice Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; and General Counsel and Finance Director at Smarter Not Harder, Inc. Her accounting experience spans the preparation and auditing of financial statements for privately held companies, nonprofit organizations, school districts, cities, and banks.
Outside of her professional work, Pauline enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with family. Her Christian faith plays a central role in her values and approach to life.
Pauline is a member of the State Bar of California and is licensed as a CPA by the California Board of Accountancy.

Lauren supports the tax team as an administrative assistant, helping keep daily operations organized and running smoothly. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and her three kids. In her free time, she likes reading, running, and doing creative activities such as painting and drawing.
